Short Game Report: GemCraft – Chasing Shadows

Some years ago when the browser version of this game was new, I played quite a bit of it, as I was rather into the Tower Defense genre. I liked the way it played and what you could do (combine gems, switch them into different towers…).

Relatively recently I discovered that they actually made a Steam version of it at some point. As I was in the mood for a TD game after not having played one for some years, I snagged it for the 10 bucks it costs. My memory of the browser version is pretty spotty, but this version seems to be significantly more elaborate (map pieces, leveling, Endurance Mode, different modifications to a level possible etc.).

I played probably around a dozen maps and the later ones have begun to be more tricky, but it’s been enjoyable so far. I’ll probably play it in on on-again-off-again kind of way for a while.
