E3 2018 – Microsoft Press Conference

MS seems to have understood what was necessary to show at their press conference: lots of games, to make sure their existing console owners and potential future buyers know that there is a good supply of games coming. So that’s mostly what they did, besides also announcing the creation of a new development studio plus the acquisition of 4 other studios (Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and Compulsion Games).

Out of the 50 titles shown, 18 have some Microsoft exclusivity (either completely exclusive, launch exclusivity or console exclusivity) and 15 of them were world premier reveals.

While there wasn’t a title there that would convince me to get an Xbox, I think the showing was pretty good overall to keep current customers happy. Surprise annoucements like Battletoads were nice, but there have been other cases in the past that warn to stay cautious (Scalebound… *cough*). I hope they’ll use their new development studios well…

My favorites out of the games shown are Cyberpunk 2077 (of course!), Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition, Just Cause 4 and Kingdom Hearts 3.

Definitely a far better press conference than EA had and a pretty good one for Microsoft as well.
